Toulouse president reveals top future priority, and it's not Antoine Dupont

Dupont remains under contract until 2031, having signed an extension with Stade Toulousain in November 2025 after a high-profile reception at the Ernest-Wallon Stadium.

Instead, Lacroix is focusing on the Sept Deniers – Stade Toulousain metro station, a future stop on line C of Toulouse’s third metro line, set to link Blagnac and Ponts-Jumeaux and open in 2028 following construction that began in 2022.

"Re-signing Antoine Dupont is a source of immense pride. But the future of Stade Toulousain isn't about re-signing Antoine Dupont, it's about the arrival of the metro," the 56-year-old said during a Rugbyrama

The former flanker, who was first involved with Toulouse in 1983, added: "The arrival of the metro will push us to transform our home ground, which has evolved several times under René's leadership. And under Jean, too, when there was a new stadium. René improved it.

"It's not about saying we have a beautiful stadium, it's about having a stadium that performs well for training, performs well for hosting crowds, and therefore generates revenue that can be reinvested," he explained.

Meanwhile, Toulouse mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc recently confirmed discussions are "underway" between stakeholders over a potential expansion of around 5,000 seats at the stadium.
