Danny Care, the England scrum-half, has officially retired from international rugby.

His retirement follows his remarkable achievement as he became just the sixth player in history to earn 100 caps for England, a feat he accomplished by coming off the bench during England's recent Six Nations victory over Ireland earlier this month.

Care made his England debut in 2008 but had a rocky road to reaching 100 caps. He simply wrote on Instagram: "All amazing things must come to an end,"

He was dropped by Eddie Jones before the 2019 Rugby World Cup and was only recalled in 2022.

He was part of the England team that finished third at the Rugby World Cup last summer.

“Re-imagination” – England handed easy pool for 2027 Rugby World Cup

The new format will feature six pools of four teams, with a round of 16 added prior to the quarter-finals.

This will enable the tournament window to be reduced from seven to six weeks, while promoting a rhythm that builds momentum across the pool phase and respects the same minimum number of rest days between matches as at France 2023.
