The English-qualified 23-year-old outside back, who moves to Franklin's Gardens this summer, has started 18 of his 20 Super Rugby appearances since announcing himself in style with a try on his Waratahs debut in 2020, becoming a mainstay in the Sky Blues’ backline and one of the competition’s top performers in clean breaks, defenders beaten, and metres carried.

The lock will arrive at Sixways from Perth-based Western Force at the end of the forthcoming Super Rugby Pacific season. Lee-Warner has also played for Western Force in Australia’s National Rugby Championship having previously represented the Greater Sydney Rams.

Lee-Warner, who is 6ft 4ins tall and weights 17-and-a-half stone, is English-qualified through a grandfather.

His Dad Johan Ackermann, who departed as Gloucester boss for Japan last summer, confirmed that his son will be staying with the Cherry & Whites to pursue international honours. The imposing number eight, who has already been in contact with Eddie Jones, qualified for England on residency grounds in August 2020.

The 28-year-old could become the next South Sea Islander to be given a chance to impress by England coach Eddie Jones. The Fijian, who is on an extended leave from the Yorkshire Regiment, joined the Bears on a two-year contract last summer and is England qualified. Naulago, who played Sevens for Bath and Saracens before joining Super League Hull FC, has scored seven tries for the Bears so far this season to get onto Jones’ radar.
