James Lowe reveals the one Lion he wants to avoid rooming with in Australia

They’ve gone from teenage sweethearts to one of England rugby’s power couples.
The 2025 British and Irish Lions squad finally assembled for the first time over the weekend, following head coach Andy Farrell’s eagerly awaited squad announcement earlier this month.

Farrell named 38 players to take on Australia this summer, with a strong Irish presence throughout the squad. One of those included was Leinster flyer James Lowe, who was in typically lively form during the Lions’ admin day.
Speaking to
Sky Sports, the charismatic winger lifted the lid on camp life, revealing the one teammate he’s desperate to avoid sharing a room with Down Under.
With a cheeky grin, Lowe said:
“I mean, fortunately enough, I know a lot of the boys, obviously being Irish, but I would avoid Jack Conan at all costs.”
Lowe didn’t hold back when explaining his reasoning:
“And I think that’s pretty universal. Rooming with Jack is like rooming with a little brother who doesn’t… yeah, who doesn’t do the basics—the basics you’d expect of him.
“And he’ll probably admit that as well.”
Despite the playful jab, Lowe made it clear he’s embracing the full Lions experience:
“I’m looking forward to getting in the deep end, and I don’t really care who I’m rooming with. I’m looking forward to mixing with the other lads.
“We’ve all got the same goal, and we’ve all made it here.”
Poor Jack Conan—looks like he’s already got a reputation before a ball’s even been kicked.
