URC: Farrell signs new deal with Munster Rugby until 2028

The 32-year-old made the move from Connacht last summer after a highly successful seven-year spell in Galway, where he scored 21 tries in 112 appearances. Since arriving at Thomond Park, Farrell has quickly become one of Munster’s most influential players in a bustling back-line.

During his debut campaign, the durable centre featured in every competitive fixture — 26 matches in total — scoring 11 tries as Munster completed a standout season. His performances earned him the Bank of Ireland Munster Men’s Player of the Year and the URC Playmaker of the Year awards.

Farrell has picked up where he left off this term, cementing his place in the Munster midfield. After missing the opening two games through injury, he returned with a Player of the Match display against Edinburgh in Cork, before crossing for a crucial try in Munster’s dramatic victory over Leinster at Croke Park last weekend.

His excellent form has now been recognised at international level, with Ireland head coach Andy Farrell calling the centre into his squad ahead of the upcoming Autumn internationals.

Farrell’s extension further strengthens Munster’s backline as Clayton McMillan's men continue to build towards another title challenge — and with the centre’s mix of creativity, consistency and experience, fans can expect plenty more standout moments in red over the coming seasons.
