Some rugby stars started off playing football...
Luckily they saw the light.
1. Danny Care - Sheffield Wednesday
At age 11 he was invited to join the Academy at
Sheffield Wednesday Football Club which meant giving up club rugby although he was able to continue playing the game at
Prince Henry's Grammar School in
Otley.
Here he is with now Premier League and England international Jamie Vardy back in the day.
2. Alex Lozowski - Arsenal/Chelsea
He was a sporting allrounder in his teenage years, playing not only
rugby for the
Wasps academy but also
football for the
Chelsea academy. He had also played for Arsenal alongside Harry Kane (middle).
3. Alex Lewington - Notts County
The Saracens winger started his sporting life as a footballer in Notts County's academy - but he was a frustrated forward playing as a defender and was soon to be disenfranchised with the game.
