Being one of the most popular players on the globe is likely to generate an incredible fan-base globally, but we are fairly confident that there are some aspects of Jason Robinson’s life and career you are not familiar with.

1. Nickname

2. Short time at Bath

In 1996, rugby union had gone open, allowing professional players for the first time, and rugby league changed from a winter sport to a summer sport, so a number of league players chose to play part of a season for a rugby union club. Robinson played for Bath, scoring 4 points in 13 outings..

3. International

He scored 30 tries in 56 international matches, including a try in the 2003 World Cup Final against Australia. He played in all seven of England's World Cup games in 2003.

4. Captaincy woes

He became the first rugby league convert to captain England in 2004. However, he was captain during England's poor 2005 Six Nations campaign, in which they lost more games than they won for the first time since 1983.

5. His son Lewis

In 2012, his eldest son Lewis Tierney, who plays as a full back, signed a two-year deal with Wigan Warriors at age 18. Tierney has since joined Catalan Dragons and declared himself for Scotland, winning seven caps.null

6. Second wind

In July 2010, Robinson came out of retirement at the age of 35 to play for National League Two side, Fylde. He announced his final retirement on 7 July 2011 after helping them to promotion.

7. Awards

In March 2017, Robinson was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lycamobile British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSAs) held at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
