Scotland lose key centre for rest of Women's Six Nations - Out of England clash

Initial uncertainty surrounded the severity of the injury, with assistant coach Dave Butcher offering a cautious early update.

"She's still going for a scan, so we know it's a leg injury but until we've had the MRI results back, we don't really know. I know she's in a brace just now, but obviously that's precautionary.

"Until our medics tell us exactly what it is, I think it would be inappropriate for me to say what it is. We haven't had a full diagnosis on it yet.”

Scotland Rugby have now confirmed Orr will play no further part in the championship, adding to a growing injury list for head coach Sione Fukofuka. The Scots are already without experienced centre Lisa Thomson, while winger Francesca McGhie also remains a doubt after missing the trip to Cardiff with a shoulder injury. There is optimism McGhie could return for the visit of England at Murrayfield.

Despite the setback, Butcher stressed Scotland’s squad remains in good shape overall.

"Everyone's looking really good at the minute. Our medical staff are doing an outstanding job. There's no real major, actually what we'd call injuries at the minute. And obviously the session we've just done was a full contact session, so there's some people that had to get through that.

"We'll see how everyone got through that, the units, and then we'll have another fairly robust session this afternoon, which is more of a team session, and obviously it's how people get through that that will have more understanding of where any of the players coming back into the squad are."

Further injury concerns remain, with Evie Gallagher and Sarah Bonar also expected to miss the remainder of the tournament.

Orr’s place in the squad has been taken by uncapped Montpellier centre Holly McIntyre, while Evie Wills is expected to slot into the midfield for Scotland’s next fixture against England.
