Here, we look at five Harlequins stars who in recent weeks have been linked with shock departures from the Stoop.
1. Joe Marler
Planet Rugby has reported that England Joe Marler ‘has requested a transfer’ away from Harlequins after another dismal performance against London Irish. This doesn't seem likely, but shows that things aren't all rosey at the Stoop.
2. Chris Ashton
The Harlequins speedster has been rumoured to be “on his way” to Worcester Warriors, according to
The Eggchasers Podcast. The podcast, which is a well respected weekly podcast that airs on Mondays, revealed the link.
3. Mike Brown
He has reportedly completed his move away from Harlequins, according to rugby transfer guru Neil Fissler. The fullback, who is out of contract in the summer, had been linked with a reunion with ex-boss Dean Richards at Kingston Park in The Rugby Paper.
4. Marcus Smith
Bath have reportedly launched a huge move to try and sign Harlequins star,
according to the Mail Online. The 21-year-old, who has
also been linked with a move to Lyon in the Top 14, will be out of contract in 2021 when his current three-year contract comes to an end.
Smith, who currently earns £230k per season, is one of the most exciting prospects in world rugby could potentially double his earning to around half a million with his next move.
5. Danny Care
The scrum-half
signed a two-year extension back in 2019, meaning he will be out of contract next year. Care, who currently earn £300,000 per season, has won the Premiership (2012) and the European Challenge Cup (2011) since joining Quins from Leeds in 2006.
The 33-year-old is attracting interest from Major League Rugby franchise San Diego Legion, who have already signed Chris Robshaw, but is reportedly keen to remain in London with ambitious club Ealing Trailfinders identifying him as a possible target after missing out on Richard Wigglesworth.
