Worcester Warriors confirm the signing of 32-cap Wales scrum-half Williams

Worcester Warriors have made a major statement ahead of their return to professional rugby, snapping up 32-cap Wales scrum-half Lloyd Williams from Ealing Trailfinders.

The experienced No.9, who featured in two Rugby World Cups and was part of three Six Nations title-winning squads, becomes the second high-profile signing for the revived Warriors following the return of club legend Matt Kvesic.
New era, new energy
Williams joins a revamped setup under newly-appointed head coach Matt Everard, as Worcester prepare for life in the newly-expanded second tier—Champ Rugby—formerly known as the Championship.
The competition will now feature 14 teams, with a fresh play-off format introduced as the top six battle it out for the title at season's end.

Speaking after signing, Williams said:
“There is a real buzz around Worcester Warriors right now and it's the perfect environment for a new opportunity.
I love a challenge and the chance to help this club rise and thrive is something I couldn't pass up.
I can't wait to call Sixways home.”
Back in the big time
The Warriors were granted permission to rejoin the professional ranks after new ownership took over last year, following their financial collapse and suspension from the Premiership in September 2022.
Williams, who spent most of his club career at Cardiff, brings leadership and experience in abundance—something Everard believes will be crucial.
“Lloyd is an outstanding player and leads with an incredible amount of international and European experience,” said the Warriors boss.
