Tempers flared at the AJ Bell Stadium as Sale moved third in the Premiership thanks to their six-try bonus-point win against a stunned Harlequins.
Marler was sent to the bin for a high arm on Jean Luc du Preez, which led to a confrontation with all three brothers, but both sides were reduced to 14 men in a feisty second period.
This wasn't the only feisty moment of the game.
In a one-sided game, Akker van der Merwe, Sam James, Luke James, Rob Webber, Chris Ashton and Rohan Janse van Rensburg all crossed for the hosts.
The bonus-point success moves them up to third place before the weekend’s other league fixtures, with Harlequins remaining in eighth position.
