It's the ultimate dilemma as a rugby player...you've spent weekend after weekend running up and down the pitch, putting in big hits and giving the same interview answer about how 'the boys just didn't show enough today'...and suddenly it's all gone and you've got to decide what's next.

The most masochistic stars simply choose to subject themselves to further madness in a coaching capacity after retirement, while others can be seen talking as a pundit while a good percentage of the rest play seemingly endless amounts of golf.

But what about the rugby stars who found life beyond the after-dinner circuit having hung up their boots?

Here are some of the most interesting things rugby players have got up to after retiring...

Along with is two brothers, Josh and Max, the former Harlequins man launched a family-run sausage brand. The Jolly Hog journey began when Kohn’s wife bought him a sausage-making machine in 2008. The Jolly Hog business, which has 15 full-time employees, registered turnover of £1.3m last year.

Despite now being the face of BT Sport's Gallagher Premiership coverage, the giant second-row has done a fair bit of acting. He has worked as a journalist, an after-dinner speaker and has since appeared in all of the Harry Potter films playing the half-giant Hagrid, as Robbie Coltrane's body and stunt double. He also appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as a young Rubeus Hagrid. Continuing the acting theme, he also played a cyclops in Jonathan Liebesman's Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010 movie Clash of the Titans.

Following his retirement in 2010 due to injury, Vickery established his own fashion line named after his moniker. Featuring rugby-inspired tops and T-shirts, shirts, footwear and knitwear, the Raging Bull brand is stocked in 30 House of Fraser stores and 90 independent retailers in the UK.

Vickery, who won Celebrity MasterChef in 2011, has launched his new enterprise No.3  as a collection service after plans to open a restaurant were delayed.

The former Wales No. 8 is often on the TV, by presenting the show School of Hard Knocks, popping up in Stella, or a Postcode Lottery ambassador. He is also a popular Sky Sports rugby pundit. However, away from rugby he owns Quinnell Candles with his family.

The legendary All Blacks No 7 is an Owner/Director of Christchurch Helicopters. He began flying as a private pilot in 2003 and gained both his fixed wing and helicopter commercial licence after finishing his rugby career in 2015. He now has a dual role with the company as a commercial pilot and in business development. In 2018, Richie obtained his C-Cat Instructors Rating.
