Wallabies scrum-half Nic White lined up for Premiership return

According to Rugby Pass, the Chiefs have made inquiries about White, a 66-cap Australian international, after failing in their bid to sign Scotland’s Ben White.

 

The Chiefs have endured a difficult start to their Gallagher Premiership campaign, losing their opening three matches. Exeter's director of rugby, Rob Baxter, had previously been adamant that he wouldn’t turn to seasoned players to bolster his young squad.

However, the poor start may have forced him to reconsider, leading to speculation over Nic White's potential return.

White, now 33, enjoyed three memorable seasons with Exeter, before returning to Super Rugby with the Brumbies, followed by a move to Western Force. His leadership and experience could provide a timely boost to the Chiefs, who are looking to recover from their slow start.

White, known for his constant communication on the field, recently made headlines for his outspoken style. During a recent match against the All Blacks, White’s chatter drew the ire of English referee Karl Dickson, who issued a stern warning:

“I’ll be the ref, you’ll be the nine. If you scream at me again, I’ll penalise you.”

Last month, White fell about like a lion had attempted to rip off his face after Faf de Klerk accidentally made contact with it while attempting to dislodge the ball out of his hands as he attempted a pass. After consulting with the television match official, referee Paul Williams adjudicated that this warranted a yellow card for de Klerk.
