Ireland edged closer to securing back-to-back Six Nations Grand Slams with a hard-fought bonus-point triumph over a resilient Wales side in Dublin.

An early try from Dan Sheehan followed by a James Lowe score propelled the hosts to a commanding 17-0 lead at halftime, asserting their dominance in the initial stages.

Despite Wales clawing back with a penalty try and Ireland's Tadhg Beirne facing a sin-bin, Ciaran Frawley's timely intervention allayed any home supporters' anxieties before Beirne clinched the crucial bonus point.

This victory sees Ireland equaling England's Six Nations record of 11 consecutive victories and staying on track to replicate France's 1998 achievement of consecutive Grand Slams.

While Wales suffered their third successive defeat, their tenacity on the field proved they were far from being easily overwhelmed, contrary to some pre-match predictions.

15. Cameron Winnett - 7.5

Swarmed by Bundee Aki on his first involvement and gave away a penalty on deck. Bounced back and had a stunning performance at fullback. Regathered his kick chases, and left Lowe in the dust with his footwork. Oustanding under the high ball, and always found a way through contact with his 73rd min offload to Rio Dyer picking this out. Withdrawn at 75 minutes for a gum-shield activated HIA, having previously been busted up. Plenty of war wounds in his shift. (Off - Sam Costelow - 76')

14. Josh Adams - 6

Came off on bad end of Bundee Aki collision in the early goings, and was immediatey holding his neck. Nailed Calvin Nash, but couldn’t stop the wing's pass to James Lowe, for Ireland's second try. Strong defensivly, but never got off to his flying best on the front foot. (Off - Mason Grady 57')

13. George North - 7.5

Contributed his leadership to the inexperienced backs, with excellent contributions on the front foot. Carried hard but equally as impressive in defence, with a highlight reel match up against Bundee Aki. Very impressive, got stuck in.

12. Nick Tompkins - 6.5

Put in an early high tackle on James Lowe, yet redeemed himself with some key hits throughout the match. Strong playmaking skills, but Wales were unable to click in the final third.

11. Rio Dyer - 6

Great effort in the carries, nice step at 48 minutes to break into the back-field. Quietened down quite early on in the contest, but showed his talent with some good second half bursts. Defensively astute, making hits on far more powerful players and put his body on the line.

10. Sam Costelow - 6.5

Ran the line well. Organised his forwards to match up the favourites for the match. Had plenty of eyes on him with Llyod dropped to the bench, and made his minutes count with quick ball distribution and some good territorial kicks. (Off - Ioan Llyod 72')

9. Tomos Williams - 6

Straight off his feet to give a penalty away at 12 minutes, in what was Wales' 3rd penalty offence at the ruck. Good box kicking to clear danger under pressure, as he had Gibson-Park down his neck for the majority of the match. (Off - Kieron Hardy 66')

1. Gareth Thomas - 6

Put in a huge hit on Joe McCarthy with Tommy Refell over the ball for a 14th minute turnover. Contributed his shift in the front row, as both sets of forwards jostled in the unsteady scrum. Lost the battle on occasion, as Tadhg Furlong showcased his talents. (Off - Corey Domachowski 59')

2. Elliot Dee - 6.5

Proved to be a real issue to Ireland at the breakdown, as he latched on to the tackler and multiple men couldn’t shift him. Crossed over for a powerful rolling maul at 42 minutes, yet was unable to find a grounding. Regardless, the illegal halting awarded a penalty try thanks to his efforts. Clever short line out, played Ireland at their own game. (Off - Ryan Elias 59')

3. Keiron Assiratti - 6

Great effort to help halt the 8th min Ireland maul, as the men in green struggled to break down the Welsh defence in the early goings. Lost his boot at the breakdown, and had a back and forth with Porter after the Irish prop flung it away. (Off - Dillon Lewis 51')

4. Dafydd Jenkins - 7

Strong defensive effort and was passionate to get his side on the front foot. Had a push and shove with Porter, as the duo engaged in some 'afters' at 18 minutes. Gave his side a talking two after giving away eight penalties at the breakdown in first half hour. Then he was off his feet to give away the next penalty. Made a key tap tackle on Bundee Aki at 44 minutes, to salvage a scoring opportunity.

5. Adam Beard - 5.5

Not the finest hour from the lock, as the made a handful of errors at the line-out. Beard also knocked the ball on at 38 minutes, as Wales mounted the pressure on the Ireland line. (Off - Rowlands 54)

6. Alex Mann - 6

Halted the 8th min Ireland rolling maul with a great effort. Gave away a penalty at 22 minutes for not rolling away, as the penalty count got too high. (Off - Mackenzie Martin 54').

7. Tommy Reffell - 7

Over the ball for 14th min breakdown turnover, but following line-out sees him not 2m in the line, and gives away an unforced pen. A mixed bag from the phenomenal back-row, yet left it all out on the pitch.

8. Aaron Wainwright - 7.5

Loses the ball at the ruck, as he's turned over at seven minutes by Porter. Battled resiliently and showed off his footballing skills with a nice downfield kick, and charged after it (47 minutes). This embodied the fight and burning Welsh resolve, as he battled for every inch, just had his 76th min try attempt held up.
