Video emerges of Kyle Sinckler 'bite' that saw prop cited

Kyle Sinckler has been cited for biting during Saturday's second Test defeat to South Africa, World Rugby has announced.

Warren Gatland's men take on South Africa in the series decider in Cape Town on Saturday.

A statement from World Rugby reads: “British and Irish Lions player Kyle Sinckler will attend an independent disciplinary hearing after he was cited by Scott Nowland (Australia) for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.12 (biting) during the 64th minute of the second test against South Africa in Cape Town on 31 July, 2021.

“Sinckler will attend a hearing via video conference before an independent Judicial Committee chaired by Adam Casselden SC (Australia), joined by former international players David Croft and John Langford (both Australia) on 3 August.”

The likes of Duhan van de Merwe, Cheslin Kolbe, Maro Itoje, Faf de Klerk, Mako Vunipola and Stuart Hogg all escaped sanctions despite controversial incidents.

If a citing commissioner could look at yesterday's game and only pick out Kyle Sinckler for further scrutiny, then it's no exaggeration to say World Rugby's disciplinary processes have ended up in the bin. Make it up as you go along.

The only citing to emerge from the second test is... Sinckler for biting. The one thing nobody even noticed, apparently. This whole series is just ill-tempered madness, vast referee and citing blind spots and off-field shithousing. Odds on a full blown 99 call next weekend?
