TRANSFER RUMOUR: Jack Nowell a wanted man overseas

The 28-year-old has spent his entire professional career close to his hometown of Cornwall, but now two sides in Japan are preparing a package that may tempt him overseas for one or two seasons.

Having fallen out of favour with England head coach Eddie Jones, his last appearance for his country came against Argentina during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Nowell, who has won everything he possibly can with Exeter Chiefs following their Premiership and Champions Cup double in 2020, is thought to be a 'realistic' target for the Japanese sides.

Alongside four of his Exeter club-mates he helped England Under-20s to lift the Junior World Cup in 2013, before making his senior international debut a year later against France.

He scored his first international try shortly after against Italy and has since go on to represent England in the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, as well as helping the Red Rose country to lift two Six Nations titles.

A magnificent 2017, however, was crowned with him lifting the Premiership title in May against Wasps, then heading to New Zealand a month later to feature for the British & Irish Lions on their summer tour, where he featured in two of the three test matches against the world champions.

The versatile 18-year-old Frankie Nowell, who has a big reputation, is making a name for himself on the south coast. Currently plying his trade with the Exeter Chiefs U18, he is certainly a name to watch out for in the future.

"I’ve known Zoe since I was 14 when she came down to Cornwall from Essex,” Nowell says of his partner, Zoe, a spa therapist. “We were friends but never really got together properly until I was about 20-21 years old. I went back down to Cornwall to see my family and happened to bump into her. We had a good catch-up and we now have a kid and a house, so it’s pretty weird!”
