Three venues revealed for possible home Lions tests

The British and Irish Lions series with South Africa could be held in the UK and Ireland, according to reports this morning.

The BBC and Daily Mail are each reporting those three as the likely venues as rugby powerbrokers plan the next step if Covid-19 prevents Lions fans from travelling to South Africa.

According to reports, the first test would be held at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with the other matches held at Twickenham and Wembley in London.

It would represent the unique prospect of rugby fans being able to watch the Lions do titanic battle with the Springboks on home soil.

However, it is hoped that a vaccine would allow for fans to attend games in the UK by summer.

In a statement on Saturday the Lions board announced that they had been having "repeated meetings to discuss all scenarios available and is in constant dialogue".

Both are definite starters (Farrell will be at 12 if not 10) and it makes perfect sense for an Englishman to be captain because most of the squad is likely to be English.
