The 2022 rugby summer transfer season is gearing up to be one of the most memorable of all time.
There are heaps of top players out of contract and with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic still being felt by many top clubs, they may struggle to get stars to commit to new deals.
There is bound to be lots of moving and shaking then. If you are struggling to keep track of all the players who might be on the move, we don't blame you.
Here are some of the top rugby stars who could be one the move next season.
Free agents in 2022:
#1. Tadhg Furlong (Leinster)
The tighthead was rumoured to be on his way out of Ireland until last month when he signed a one-year extension after turning down a long-term deal. Still thought to be on the move next summer, several French clubs and Sale Sharks have been linked with a move for him in recent times.
#2. Stuart Hogg (Exeter Chiefs)
The Scotland fullback, who was captain of his country in this year’s Six Nations, was edged out of the Exeter side by Jack Nowell for the Premiership semi-final and final last month.
#3. Malakai Fekitoa (Wasps)
The former All Blacks centre signed a three-year deal with the Premiership club ahead of the 2019-20 season, meaning this campaign is the last of that original contract.
#4. George Kruis (Saitama Wild Knights)
The England lock signed on for another year in Japan - but will be a free agent next summer with Leicester reportedly very interested.
#5. Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys)
The Lions captain signed a one-year extension with the Welsh region last month, but will reportedly leave that deal early to play a season in the Japanese Top League following the 2022 Six Nations.
#6. Robbie Henshaw (Ireland)
The centre last signed a three-year deal back in 2019 - but we'd expect the 28-year-old to sign on for more as he seems settled with his family in Dublin.
#7. Nicolas Sanchez (Stade Francais)
The Argentina international last signed a new deal with Stade Français back in September 2020 His extended contract will see the fly-half remaining in Paris until the end of this season.
#8. George Ford (Leicester Tigers)
The fly-half agreed a new two-year deal with Leicester back in January 2020, keeping the England fly-half at Welford Road until the summer of 2022. Bristol had attempted to lure the 26-year-old to Ashton Gate at the time.
#9. Sevu Reece (Crusaders)
The 24-year-old agreed a contract extension until 2022 after he had a breakthrough season in 2020. Toulon are thought to be very interested in the wideman if he doesn't sign a contract extension back in New Zealand.
#10. Keith Earls (Munster)
The winger has signed a one-year extension to his IRFU contract. The new deal keeps him at Munster until 2022.
#11. Conor Murray (Munster)
The Ireland and Munster scrum-half last signed a new three-year contract in 2019, so will be free to leave the Irish province in 2022.
#12. Jonathan Joseph (Bath Rugby)
Despite being under contract at Bath until summer 2022, Joseph’s suggestion that his England ambitions could be over piqued interest on the other side of the Channel and Midi Olympique have reported that contact was made by Toulon to sound out the midfielder’s availability.
#13. Ali Price (Glasgow Warriors)
Price agreed a fresh two-year deal that ties him to Glasgow until the summer of 2022. Since then his stock has significantly rise as he's become Scotland's first choice and impressed for the Lions on their tour of South Africa.
#14. Liam Williams (Scarlets)
Williams rejoined Scarlets from Saracens on what was thought to be an initial two-year contract back in 2020. Reports in Wales suggest he will likely sign a contract extension.
