Teleri Davies pays tribute to her father, who died six years after a scrummaging accident

Afterwards, Teleri paid tribute to her father Bryan "Yogi" Davies who died in 2013, six years after a scrummaging accident while playing for Bala.

The 20-year-old law student, who plays for Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC 1404), says she owes her sporting success to her father Bryan “Yogi” Davies , who took her to training from a young age but died in 2013 at the age of 56.

Mr Davies, from Bala, was left a tetraplegic after a scrum collapsed within minutes of him starting his last game for Bala in 2007.

Second row Ms Davies, who won her first cap said, said: “Thinking about dad obviously spurs me on. He inspired me to be here today by starting me playing rugby when I was young and dragging me to training.

“He would be so proud of me playing for Wales and that I was stepping into his rugby boots.

“He probably wouldn’t tell me how proud he was, but would tell others behind my back.”
