From title contenders to the sides at the bottom, here’s how the numbers see this weekend shaping up across the league in round seven of the season.

The Slater Cup opens the weekend with Leicester strongly fancied at Welford Road. Despite a winless start to their European campaign, Tigers have shown plenty of promise in narrow defeats to La Rochelle and Leinster, performances that suggest their domestic form should remain strong. Gloucester arrive having managed just one league win so far, although injuries have played a significant role in that return.

Northampton and Sale meet in what should be a tight and physical contest at Franklin’s Gardens. Sale arrive full of confidence after a famous away win against Clermont-Auvergne, a result that may signal a turning point for a side that has traditionally struggled on the road.

Saints, meanwhile, have made a strong start to the season with four wins, a draw and one defeat, and should be able to welcome back several England internationals who were previously rested. With both teams coming off impressive European results in France, this promises to be finely balanced, though Sports4Cast give Northampton a slight edge with a 65% win probability and a narrow 24–21 victory predicted.

An open, high-scoring contest looks likely at The Stoop, with both sides preferring to play at pace and attack from deep. Harlequins, on the other hand, have struggled to find consistency and have only a couple of victories to show for their efforts so far. Bottom meets top as Newcastle welcome Bath to Kingston Park. Red Bulls are still searching for their first win of the season, though home support and potentially difficult winter conditions could offer some resistance, particularly for a southern-based opponent so close to Christmas.

Bath, however, arrive in formidable form as reigning Premiership champions and league leaders, looking well drilled and ruthless across the park. While Kingston Park can be a tricky venue, the projections suggest a significant gap between the sides, with Sports4Cast assigning Bath a 94% chance of victory and forecasting a 45–18 win for Johann van Graan’s men.
