Stuart Hogg makes his feelings clear on Scotland recall

In a translated interview with French publication Actu Rugby, the former full-back revealed that while he remains confident he could contribute to the current Scotland team, he does not expect a return to the international setup.

Hogg stepped away from international rugby in 2023 after a decorated career that saw him become one of Scotland’s most capped and influential players. However, he says there has been no communication from Scottish Rugby about any potential comeback.

“I’ve retired completely from international rugby and I’ve always said that if I felt I could be of use to Scotland, then I would be,” he said.

“But I haven’t had any communication from anyone within Scottish rugby. And I doubt that will ever change.”

The 32-year-old suggested that events away from the pitch over the last couple of years mean a return is highly unlikely.

“With everything that’s happened to me off the field over the last two years, there’s no chance that Scottish rugby wants anything to do with me.”

Despite that, Hogg insists he still feels capable of contributing if the opportunity ever arose.

“Do I believe I could still be useful to this Scotland team?” he added. “Yes, 100%.”
