Maro Itoje, the Saracens and England rugby player, is facing a disciplinary hearing for a dangerous tackle during a match against Bath Rugby on April 26, 2024.

The independent disciplinary panel, chaired by Philip Evans KC with Becky Essex and Martyn Wood, will convene on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, to review the incident.
Itoje has been cited for a dangerous tackle, which goes against World Rugby Law 9.13. The incident took place in the 29th minute of the first half. These disciplinary hearings are crucial in ensuring player safety and upholding the integrity of the game.
Since the collision, fans have been debating the punishment for the act, with many believing a red card would have been more suitable.
One fan wrote: “You simply cannot mitigate a red card to a yellow based on anything but technique, should see red for that tackle”
Another said: “A bit naughty to only show that angle which makes it look like a red. Ref was spot on when you see from behind.”
