Manie Libbok has officially confirmed his departure from the DHL Stormers, taking to social media to thank the Cape Town franchise and its loyal supporters as he prepares for a move to Japan.

The 28-year-old playmaker will join Hanazono Kintetsu Liners ahead of the 2025/26 Japan Rugby League Oneseason.

Libbok, recently part of the Springboks squad that claimed back-to-back Rugby Championship titles, has been a key figure in the Stormers’ rise — guiding them to the inaugural United Rugby Championship title in 2022 and becoming one of the most influential players in their setup.

In a heartfelt message, Libbok expressed his gratitude to everyone who played a role in his journey with the Stormers.

“I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at the @dhlstormers. From the coaches, management, medical team, and all the hardworking staff at the HPC. Thank you for the trust you placed in me and for believing. That belief inspired me to be the best version of myself.

Libbok’s move brings an end to a memorable stint in Cape Town colours, but the creative flyhalf now sets his sights on a new challenge in Japan’s top flight.
