Springboks team to face Ireland - RG Snyman set to make 50th cap as Franco Mostert not picked

The last meeting between the two sides at the Aviva Stadium was in the 2022 Autumn Series, which saw Ireland cling on for a narrow 19-16 triumph upon home soil. The sides have met a further three times since then, with Ireland claiming a pool stage victory over the Boks at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, before the nations split their 2024 Summer Tour series with one win a piece last year.

Erasmus has made 11 changes to his Springboks starting XV, from the side that defeated Italy last weekend. Canan Moodie starts on the right wing ahead of Edwill van der Merwe, after starting in the midfield against the Azzurri. Jesse Kriel and Damian de Allende start in the centres, with Cheslin Kolbe selected over Kurt-Lee Arendse on the left wing.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu returns to the 10 shirt ahead of Handre Pollard, with the fly half partnering with Cobus Reinach, as Morne van den Berg is dropped from the squad. The forward pack sees Boan Venter retained at loose-head, with hooker Malcolm Marx and tight-head prop Thomas du Toit selected ahead of Johan Grobbelaar and Zach Porthen. Eben Etzebeth and Ruan Nortje pack down the second row, with RG Snyman in line for his 50th cap from the bench.

The back row consists of Siya Kolisi, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Jasper Weise. Interestingly, there is no space in the match day 23 for Franco Mostert, after the lock was sent off against Italy and had his red card subsequently overturned. Also, Lood de Jager misses out on a place in the squad, as his four-match ban continues the appeal process.
