Six Nations 2017: RUCK pick their Team of the Week after Round Two

Ireland claimed the first ever try-scoring bonus-point in the Six Nations while there were also narrow wins for England and France. Here is the RUCK Team of the Week after Round Two:

Fullback: STUART HOGG (Scotland)

Perhaps not as impressive as he was against Ireland, but Hogg made his presence felt on his 50th cap. The fullback was light on his feet to step his way to a third try of the Championship, and attacked with intent on the counter with 81 metres from nine runs.

Wing: KEITH EARLS (Ireland)

An eerily deadly assassin in the first-half from the wing, converting two tries from two opportunities. He's putting his hand up for Lions selection.

Centre: GARRY RINGROSE (Ireland)

This was a much more enjoyable afternoon for Ringrose: his defensive line speed was outstanding, making crucial turnover tackles and scoring a great try.

Centre: OWEN FARRELL (England)

The general really is quite the Test match animal. Amazingly slick passing and provided the assist for the Daly score.

Wing: ELLIOT DALY (England)

Stunning finish for the his winning try, racing past the static Cuthbert, the 11th hour replacement for North, to prove he has the out and out gas to be a Test winger.

Fly-half: DAN BIGGAR (Wales)

Produced one of his best Test match displays for a long time. He was heroic in defeat.

Scrum-half: RHYS WEBB (Wales)

Battled well to provide Wales with quick ball as England launched bodies at the breakdown. The scrum-half also showed good alertness to set up Williams’ try.

Prop: JOE MARLER (England)

Getting back into gear - dominating in the tight and in the close quarter-combat. The prop also made 11 tackles, which was the third best of any England player. He even had a friendly chat with his old adversary Samson Lee at full-time.

Hooker: NIALL SCANNELL (Ireland)

Made some strong carries and contributed well to strong set-plays on his Test debut. Did everything that was asked of him in the absence of skipper Rory Best.

Prop: TADHG FURLONG (Ireland)

This 24-year-old prop will surely tour New Zealand this summer. He was superb once again.

Lock: JOE LAUNCHBURY (England)

Twenty tackles in a huge defensive shift. Rose well in the lineout too, and lasted the entire game. He is becoming a leader of this side.

Lock: DEVIN TONER (Ireland)

Lineout, scrum and attacking maul all went like a dream and the experienced lock played a key role in this

Flanker: CJ STANDER (Ireland)

Never mind the hat-trick, what about his ten clean tackles and that cross field chip for Gilroy’s second try? Savage.

Flanker: KEVIN GOURDON (FRANCE)

Number 8: ROSS MORIARTY (Wales)

It’s a wonder why he was taken off after 53 minutes as he constantly bludgeoned his way through the English defence. It proved to be a major error taking him off.
