Scotland legend calls for 'immature anti-English' anthem to be replaced

This Saturday, however, Scotland will proudly play "Flower of Scotland" before their highly anticipated Six Nations Calcutta Cup match against England at Twickenham.

Tefler has now reiterated his stance on the song that references Scotland's victory over English forces at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. "

Back then [in 1990], it really got the crowd behind us, but I’d like to think we have moved on..." he told the Times.

"Flower of Scotland is a great song in a way and it does get the hairs on your neck straightening and standing up.

"But because it’s against another country, I still don’t think it’s the ideal anthem. People sing that song, sing about the English, and it’s just in the moment."

The likes of Halafihi, Paolo Garbisi and Monty Ioane are filling the 'Azzurri' with optimism, for another upset victory in this year's competition.

One of the latest breakout stars for Exeter Chiefs, Christ Tshiunza has been making a name for himself in Devon. At 6ft 6" tall, and weighing 17.6 stone, Tshiunza is a towering forward, that will be looking to establish himself for Wales.

Head and shoulders above the age group opposition, Wayne Pivac fast-tracked Tshiunza for a Welsh first team debut in the 2021 Autumn International series, against Fiji.
