Scotland call-up former Wallabies flanker for Autumn Nations Series

Reports this morning have revealed that former back-rower Jack Dempsey is set to be included in Scotland's squad for the 2022 Autumn Nations Series.
Although the 28-year-old has 14 Australia caps, the most recent of them came on October 11 2019, meaning he has now served the three-year stand-down period stipulated in the new World Rugby regulations.
According to The Times, Gregor Townsend names his autumn squad on Wednesday, and it is widely expected that Dempsey, who qualifies to play for Scotland through his late maternal grandfather, will be part of it.
As of January 1, 2022, capped players are allowed to transfer allegiance as long as they have spent the previous three years out of the international game and have “a close and credible link via birthright” to the country to which they are switching.
During the summer, Dempsey revealed he has spoken to both Scottish and Australian representatives and spent time in the close season weighing up his future.
“I addressed the summer as a big thinking, brainstorming operation. I went back to my roots, my parents were over here, and I got to meet my extended family, the Scottish side,” said Dempsey, who joined Glasgow Warriors in the summer.
“But I was also keeping an eye on both camps. There was the Argentina series and then Australia have been playing recently.
“Both teams have been playing promising rugby but in terms of my own situation I have pretty much made my mind up and I’m probably going to make an announcement in the next three or four weeks.”
Scotland kick off their Autumn campaign with Australia before also facing Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina at Murrayfield.

#2. Alex Lozowski (England to Italy)

- Position: Fly-half, Centre, Wing, Fullback

'I feel an English bloke. At the moment that is where my loyalties lie, even if I'm not going to get picked," said Lozowski.

"That might not make sense to some people because they might think if I'm not getting picked for England, I may as well go and play for Italy. But I'm the type of player who needs to be all in to play for a team. At this stage of my career, I'm still passionately English.
'Eddie Jones said it's up to me which at the end of the day it is. If I hadn't played for England then maybe I wouldn't feel as English as I do. Because I have, I have that attachment.'
'I always thought when I was growing up that it was peculiar you could play for more than one country. If I'm honest about it, my grandmother was Italian, but I've never lived in Italy.
"Potentially that got me considered for the squad, but sometimes being on standby is worse than being completely forgotten about!'
#3. Denny Solomona (England to Fiji)

#4. Danny Cipriani (England to Trinidad & Tobago)

It’s been suggested that the switch could be funded by World Rugby, who are looking to encourage former elite rugby players to represent third tier nations to help raise the sports profile in that country.
Cipriani has been heavily linked with a move to Major League Rugby in the USA after the fly-half confirmed he will be heading 'to a new country' following his departure from Bath at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old’s father is Afro-Trinidadian with some Italian heritage while his mother is English. They’re currently ranked 53rd in the world.
#5. George McGuigan (England Saxons to Ireland)

The 28-year-old, who is the second top try-scorer in the Gallagher Premiership with 14, continues to be overlooked by England boss Eddie Jones. Munster, who want to strengthen their hooking options, are now reportedly keeping tabs on the Newcastle Falcons’ ace according to The Rugby Paper.
