Owen Farrell cried out in pain after rolling his left ankle while making a tackle close to Saracens’ try line at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend.
Despite hobbling off, Sarries are hopeful that their skipper will be fit for Sunday’s Heineken Champions Cup round-of-16 clash with the Ospreys.
“Owen took part in some of the training today [Wednesday], so we are relatively optimistic that he will be available for this weekend,” said director of rugby Mark McCall.
“Owen didn’t need a scan. He was much better on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday after the pain,
“He trained today and as long as there is no reaction to that, I am sure he will be okay. He is our captain and he played brilliantly on the weekend, led the team very well. So fingers crossed.”
Farrell dive angers rugby fans
One less great moment saw Farrell take a tumble in the second half, which correctly resulted in a yellow card for Quins centre Luke Northmore.

A second commented: "Yes that is a card, but Owen Farrell has absolutely milked that. Embarrassing."

England made enquiries about bringing him back to Twickenham when Eddie Jones was sacked, but was told where to go by their former employee.
