'RUNIT' - Leicester Tigers legend competes in bizarre and controversial new Australian sport

The two faced off in a Rugby themed scenario where making the hardest collision possible with your opponent is a must. The brutal sport tasks the competitors to run straight at one another along a 20m track.

Nadolo who represented his native Fiji on 33 occasions had spells with Montpellier in the Top 14 and Crusaders in Super Rugby as well as his time in the English Premiership.

The now 37-year-old who in his playing career would be use to a playing surface of 68-70 metres in width had that down to a miniature 4m when he stepped onto the track at the Melbourne Pavilion.

Known for his big ball carrying ability, Nadolo later admitted on his personal Instagram account that taking part in his brutal sport on Wednesday was scary.

He said: “One of the scariest yet most fulfilling thing I’ve don’t since retiring from the game.

“Building up the mental courage to step in and go up against one of the toughest men in rugby league-none other than England’s own George Burgess is something I won’t forget.

“The biggest takeaway for me was the mental challenge of preparing on short notice for an event that demands such intense, physical tackling. That in itself was a big positive.”

Organises name the surface that the encounter took place on the ‘battlefield’ and it was certainly something to behold. The former Rugby League star, Burgess used his strength and tenacity to uphold his opponent as he claimed the victory.

Nadolo however, showed his toughness of old and courage as he rose back from the deck to then have his turn at the Englishmen. The former South Sydney Rabbitohs proved the stronger as he stopped the massive Fijian blitz dominantly.

Despite this there has been some outrage over the dangers of the sport, with some sports neuroscientists being critical and concerned from the point of view of head injuries. That isn’t helped with the rulings stating they disallow tackles below the waist and above the shoulders.

With a knockout always lurking and you not knowing what shot will get you down, RUN IT have stated that a knockout from any other combat sports is a byproduct. So is this a new form of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and will we see more former union players like Nadolo take part?
