Rugby Transfers: Harlequins make major Tuipulotu signing

The 22-year-old joins from Gloucester Hartpury after six seasons in the West Country, where she made 67 appearances following her debut in 2021 against DMP Durham Sharks.

During her time with the club, she developed into one of the leading players in her position at both domestic and international level.

Tuipulotu leaves Gloucester Hartpury with an impressive record that includes 20 tries, underlining her impact as a powerful ball carrier as well as her effectiveness in the set piece.

Her performances have been a key part of the club’s success, contributing to three Premiership Women’s Rugby titles.

Despite her age, Tuipulotu has already built a strong international résumé. She has earned 33 caps for Wales since making her debut against Ireland in 2022 and has featured in two Rugby World Cups.

Her form has also brought individual recognition, including a nomination for the 2023 Women’s Six Nations Player of the Championship.

She has continued that form into the 2026 Women’s Six Nations, scoring in the opening round against Scotland and delivering notable performances against France and England.

Tuipulotu’s father, Sione Tuʻipulotu, represented Tonga, earning 29 caps between 1997 and 2008. He also played in Wales for Caerphilly RFC from 2001 to 2003 and for the Newport Gwent Dragons from 2003 to 2006.

Meanwhile, her cousin Carwyn Tuipulotu plays for the Scarlets, and she is the sister of up-and-coming England hooker Kepu Tuipulotu.

After confirming her move, Tuipulotu said: “I’m really excited to be joining Harlequins! I’m excited for the experience, to meet the team and learn from even more world-class players. I can’t wait to get going in the Quarters.”

Harlequins head coach Ross Chisholm welcomed the signing, saying: “It’s hugely exciting to have secured the services of a player of the calibre of Sisilia. She will add to what is already an exciting front-row and group of forwards here at Harlequins.

"Sisila is a world-class operator and has shown in her performances for both Gloucester-Hartpury and Wales just how good she is.”
