REVEALED: Why ex-England wing Jack Nowell will wear 'special' boots this weekend for La Rochelle

Rugby fans are in for a treat this Saturday, as La Rochelle winger Jack Nowell steps onto the field wearing a unique pair of custom-designed boots. The former England flyer will don the one-of-a-kind footwear during Stade Rochelais' Champions Cup last-16 match against Munster.

The special-edition boots, created by renowned footwear artist Jordan Dawson, are part of Nowell’s initiative to raise awareness for the 2025 Wings for Life World Run. Nowell, a Red Bull sponsored athlete, is offering these one-of-a-kind boots as a prize to one lucky member of his Wings for Life World Run team.

The Meaning Behind the Custom Boots

Designed by Jordan Dawson, the boots draw inspiration from the intricate structure of nerve endings, symbolising the critical connection between movement and the nervous system. This design aligns perfectly with the Wings for Life Foundation’s goal of funding spinal cord injury research.

Nowell expressed his excitement about the initiative, saying:

“I’m really excited to announce this initiative with Wings for Life. Hopefully, it will encourage people to sign up for this year’s Wings for Life World Run and help raise as much money as possible. The foundation is doing incredible work, and I’m proud to play my part in raising awareness.”

Dawson, the artist behind the boots, added:
“I love customising boots for professional athletes, but when I can use my skills for a great cause like Wings for Life, it’s even more rewarding. Hopefully, people like the design and sign up for Jack’s team to try and win them.”

The randomly selected winner will be drawn after the match, giving rugby and charity supporters alike an extra reason to get involved.

What is the Wings for Life World Run?

The Wings for Life World Run is a unique global event where participants, including both runners and wheelchair users, race against a moving virtual finish line rather than a set distance. The event, which takes place worldwide at the same time, supports the Wings for Life Foundation’s mission to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.
