"Remember the Name" - French sensation wins U20 Six Nations Player of the Championship

The explosive winger played a key role as France national under-20 rugby union team secured a second successive U20 Six Nations crown, scoring tries against three different nations during a superb individual tournament.

Currently playing his club rugby for RC Vannes, Senga Kouo emerged as one of the standout young talents in northern hemisphere rugby thanks to his blistering pace, power and finishing ability.

The award continues France’s recent dominance in the pathway competition, with Senga Kouo following in the footsteps of hooker Lyam Akrab as the latest French youngster to claim the honour. Previous winners of the award and participants in the competition include some of world rugby’s biggest names, such as Antoine Dupont, Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Oscar Jégou.

Speaking after receiving the award, Senga Kouo said: “I’m very happy to have been named the best player of the U20 Tournament. After this incredible Grand Slam victory with my teammates, it’s an honour for me to win this trophy, even though team trophies are always more important than individual awards.”

Since impressing during the Six Nations campaign, the winger has already made a major impact at senior level with Vannes, scoring a remarkable hat-trick on his first-team debut.

Interest in the U20 Men’s Six Nations also reached new heights in 2026. More than 4.5 million viewers followed the competition across linear broadcast platforms, while over 100,000 supporters attended matches during the tournament.

The Championship also broke attendance records, including a crowd of 15,730 for France’s clash with England in La Rochelle — the highest attendance ever recorded for an U20 Six Nations fixture.
