Referee's confirmed for Champions Cup and Challenge Cup finals, Hollie Davison makes history

Hollie Davidson is set to make history as the first female referee to officiate an EPCR Final, taking the whistle for the Challenge Cup Final between Bath Rugby and Lyon Olympique Universitaire.

But that's not all—this appointment marks the first time since Jim Fleming in 1998 that a Scottish referee has been chosen to officiate a European final, making it an even more special moment for Scottish rugby!

Davidson has had a stellar year, already being involved in both the men’s and women’s Six Nations, and this summer, she’ll become the first female referee to officiate a tier 1 test match when South Africa face Italy.

She’ll be joined by Mike Adamson, who will take up the TMO role for the Challenge Cup Final, which will be held at Principality Stadium, Cardiff on Friday, 23 May.

Davidson shared her excitement:

“European rugby is the pinnacle of the professional game, and to be named as the Challenge Cup final referee is something that I never thought was possible when I was starting out. It’s been a long time since a Scot has done a final, so I’m just absolutely over the moon to be named as the referee for such a big game."

Meanwhile, Nika Amashukeli from Georgia will make his EPCR Finals debut as the referee for the Champions Cup Final between Northampton Saints and Union Bordeaux-Bègles.
