Rees-Zammit aims for "positive" Wales return ahead of Autumn Internationals.

The 24-year-old took to the field despite training separately from the rest of the squad alongside Dragons RFC’s Rio Dyer as 6,000 Welsh fans watched on. Rees-Zammit makes his return to rugby from American football after joining the Kansas City Chiefs and then moving on to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“My foot is feeling good,” said the British and Irish Lion back, who has not played international rugby for over two years.

“All the boys are loving it, and we are ready to rip in”, he added.

Rees-Zammit took part in numerous running drills, at the end of the pitch, behind the posts, alongside Dyer, who post training had his left knee heavily iced. Elliot Dee was also seen involved in the training session, as he continues his rehab with the WRU after he was injured in the first game of the United Rugby Championship season against Ulster in Belfast.

Montpellier’s Adam Beard was absent from the training session as he had to return to France due to World Rugby regulations. Also watching on the sidelines was uncapped number eight Olly Cracknell and director of rugby Dave Reddin.

After facing Argentina, Steve Tandy’s men will then take on Japan, New Zealand and South Africa as they aim to pick up their first win in the capital since August 2023 against England.

“This is the first time I have been on this field for 18 months, and it feels weird,” continued Rees-Zammit.
