Rassie Erasmus paused during a press conference to poke fun at England’s recent winning streak under Steve Borthwick, urging people to look at the context behind the results.

England had put together a 12-match winning run before their recent dip in the Six Nations Championship, but Erasmus suggested the record should be viewed with perspective.
“It’s a bit like saying a guy is fast because he ran past someone, but you must ask who he ran past,” Erasmus joked.
“Was it a prop or a laaitie [young player] who just started playing rugby?”
The Bok coach said strong records can be misleading if the level of opposition isn’t considered.
“When teams build up good records you must look carefully at who they beat,” he said.
Erasmus also referenced England’s win over the New Zealand national rugby union team in November.
“Maybe New Zealand’s loss to England puts our 43-10 win against New Zealand in Wellington into perspective,” he said.
“They weren’t at their best, we all know that. England beat New Zealand, but what other big teams did they beat?”
