Even the best players have bad days - but these performances will definitely have stuck in the mind of even the most forgiving England fan.
From outsiders who came into the team late to legends, nobody is protected in this ranked list.
Here RUCK.co.uk ranks the five worst individual performances by players at Rugby Rugby World Cups.
5. Mike Catt vs New Zealand (1995)
Not the worst performance - but a moment that no rugby fan will ever forget was the sight of Jonah Lomu ploughing over Catt.
He was simply a doormat to the All Black powerhouse as New Zealand went onto win 45-29. Catt was probably just unfortunate that he was the last line of defence on the day Lomu decided to score four tries, hense why we haven't put him further down the list.
4. Andy Farrell vs South Africa (2007 pool stage)
England may have reached the final in 2007, but the pool stage included an embarrassing 36-0 defeat for the reigning champions against the Springboks.
Picking out one poor individual is a tough ask but we're going with former Great Britain rugby league captain Andy Farrell. The goalkicker on the day took nothing but kickoffs in a very poor all-around display.
Unfortunately, he never produced the performances for the England union side for which many had hoped, and ultimately he won only eight caps.
3. Jonathan Webb vs Wales (1987)
England was abysmal as they were knocked out of the inaugural 1987 Rugby World Cup by neighbours Wales, suffering a 16-3 defeat.
Jonathan Webb had been England's star man at the tournament so far, meaning his drop in performance was particularly notable. He fell off tackles as Wales ran in three tries while fumbling several very decent counter-attack opportunities.
2. Jonny Wilkinson vs France (2011)
Now we cast our mind back to 2011 when England was dumped out 19-12in the quarter-finals against France. It was a tournament too far for Wilkinson, who received considerable criticism after the game.
Paul Ackford of the Telegraph rated Wilkinson's performance a 3/10 and commented: "His touch and confidence have both gone. Almost a liability now."
His pool stage performances compounded the misery with the once world-class kicker converting just 45% of his kicks at goal. Not the swansong he deserved.
1. Chris Robshaw vs Wales (2015)
Overall, his on-field display is nowhere near as bad as some other performances on this list. However, as captain, his decision not to take the three points and instead kick to the corner in the dying minutes, which ultimately led to Stuart Lancaster's side being knocked out in the pool stage is simply unforgivable.
England fans have rarely raged at one man like this. It's amazing how he bounced back from this to play a crucial role under Eddie Jones for three years before the new generation of flankers saw him phased out of the squad.
