Player Ratings: Gloucester 31-55 Bath -Finn Russell & Ollie Lawrence star in West Country Derby

Bath opened the scoring with Ben Obano but tries from Welshmen Max Llewellyn and Tomos Williams gave Gloucester the lead once again.

Charlie Atkinson added on to Bath’s first half misery but Finn Russell managed to get one back for the visitors. Carreras scored a penalty just before half time to give Gloucester a cushion once again.

However, it was one way traffic in the second half , with Obano, Josh Bayliss,Tom de Glanville and a penalty try gave Bath the control of the game.

Ollie Thorley scored a bonus point try for Gloucester with just over 10 minutes to go to give the Cherries a bit of hope, but late tries from Ollie Lawrence and Jaco Coetzee sealed the win for Bath

Knight came off early in the second half after Bath scored two quick tries. It was a relatively quiet game for the prop up until coming off.

The hooker was reliable on the line out, showing good line out accuracy. Singleton came off when Gloucester made three substitutions at the same time on the 55th minute.

Fasogbon showed physical excellence who was strong carrying the ball, he put in a lot of work in the rucks.

After being told he was starting during the warm ups due to injury, the second row put in a decent performance and showed a high work rate throughout the game.

Thomas got subbed off in the 13th minute for a HIA and did not come back on.

Clement came off for a HIA on the half an hour mark, he played a part in the Tomos Williams try and put in a shift at the breakdown.

Ludlow conceded the penalty that led to Bath’s first try of the game, it was a relatively quiet game overall from the captain.

After a fantastic break from inside his own 10 metre line, (where he sent Finn Russell to the shop with a dummy) Mercer initiated what will go down as one of the tries of the season, he looked strong on the ball and put in a solid overall performance

Scored a try, assisted another, fast into the ruck and a brilliant performance where nearly everything he touched turned to gold. The Welshman’s impressive start to his Gloucester career continues.

There was not much time for Anscombe to make an impact, going off for a HIA after 20 minutes and did not come back on, it was a fairly average performance from the scrum half.

It was a game where Gloucester’s backs showed their true ability and Thorley was one of those, making many breaks and scoring a late try to secure a bonus point.

Atkinson set up one of the tries for Gloucester, ripping the ball and then breaking away, (one of Gloucester’s many breakaways throughout the game), it was an overall impressive and fast paced performance from the centre.

Llewellyn scored Gloucester’s first try of the game to put The Cherries level, throughout the game he showed good vision and added flair to the game.

Made some good breaks throughout the game but lacked discipline at times, being the reason Gloucester’s try before half time was disallowed.

Carreras had an accurate boot throughout the first half, added an extra option to The Cherries’ attack. The fullback came off in the 54th minute.

Blake came on at the 55th minute in a rough second half for Gloucester, they got dominated physically and Blake struggled with the line out.

Coming on at the 53rd minute, Rapava-Ruskin struggled to make a positive impact in a rough second half for Gloucester.

Govotsev came on and had a quiet 25 minutes, fitting in with Gloucester’s lacklustre second half.

Alemanno came on for Thomas early in the game for a HIA and stayed on the pitch, he put in a shift in the ruck and looked good on the ball when in possession.

Ackermann came on early in the game for under 10 minutes while Clement came off with a HIA and then came on with just over 10 minutes to go but made little impact on the game as a whole.

Coming on with 10 minutes to go, Englefield struggled to add much to a Gloucester attack that needed a lot adding to in that second half.

Coming on and immediately scoring a try that gave Gloucester a gap that was over a converted try, giving Tomos Williams good support on a break and then running the ball over the line. However, Atkinson conceded a penalty try and was booked during a crucial time of the game.

Barton came on while Gloucester were trailing to try and find that energy from the first half that the Cherries had lost, he didn’t put a foot wrong but didn’t add that needed energy. He scored a fantastic conversion, drop kicking the ball under pressure after it fell off the tee.

Obano opened the scoring with an early try for Bath, and then scored his brace in the second, and he stole the ball on his own try line to prevent the Cherries from scoring a try while Bath were losing. A very strong performance from the prop despite coming off in the 57th minute.

Dunn had a good game where Bath showed their physicality over Gloucester, Dunn was accurate at the line out and had an overall impressive performance.

The South African had a decent game, he was very strong in the ruck and played a vital part in Bath’s comeback until being subbed off.

A fantastic performance from Hill, showing his prowess at the line out, looking versatile on the ball in a really really impressive performance.

A solid performance from Moloney, not doing anything massive to stand out but putting in a good defensive effort.

A strong performance Bayliss, scoring a try and overall playing good rugby, physically dominating The Cherries.

Playing just over an hour to make way for Sam Underhill, Reid had a decent performance but conceded a few penalties, one notably for tackling a man off the ball.

It was a great performance from Barbeary, he was very powerful on the ball and was always in and around the breakdown, whether it was making the tackles or being straight into the ruck.

An immense kicking performance from the Bath captain, making some great box kicks to clear Bath’s lines, really making a difference in their performance.

“The Messi of rugby” once again showed his true ability, scoring his first try for the club, showing brilliant kicking accuracy and also adding so much flair to the game.

Making his debut for the club, Emens had a respectable debut, trying things like little chips which worked most of the time, adding a lot of flair to the game but struggled to find the opportunites to break away.

A lovely one-two with Finn Russell early on in the game to assist the Scotsmans try in a performance where Redpath looked brilliant on the ball, adding a lot of pace and energy to Bath’s attack looked good on the ball adding a lot of pace to the game. He also won a few penalties but was let down by a late yellow card.

A game that has put Ollie Lawrence in the mixer for a Lions Jersey this upcoming summer, brilliant on the ball, making powerful runs, great passes, a high work rate in defence charging down kicks. An overall unstoppable performance.

A fairly quiet game for the winger, making a few breaks and looked decent on the ball, but it was a quiet day for the Bath wingers who struggled to shine.

Scored the try that put the game to bed with a wonderful break where he ran the length of the pitch, a solid performance from the full back where he was solid defensively in the second half and had good control of the game.

Coming on with under 15 minutes to go, Annett put in a strong performance, not really putting a foot wrong.

Coming on with over 20 minutes to go, van Wyk had a strong impact, showing a strong physical presence and helped Bath dominate the second half.

Came on but was brought back off two minutes later for a blood replacement on the 68th minute so only played a few minutes.

Coming on for Bayliss, Ewels came on and put in a solid performance, being both strong in defence and while carrying the ball.

Coming on to play 15 minutes, Underhill did not make a major impact on the game, staying fairly quiet throughout his time on the pitch.

He came on and had good distribution of the ball from the breakdown and had a positive impact in the 15 minutes that he played.

Playing just under half an hour, Coetzee had a strong performance, coming on and scoring a try, showing his physical capabilities throughout the game in an impressive performance.
