Newcastle Falcons are scrambling to secure their future with a £4 million loan from Premiership Rugby and CVC Capital Partners – and could be about to make a shock move for former Ireland fly-half Paddy Jackson, according to RugbyPass.

The Falcons, who sit rock bottom of the Premiership with just two wins from 11 games, need the financial boost to meet strict league regulations set by the newly formed Financial Monitoring Panel.
With Worcester, Wasps, and London Irish already wiped out in recent years, another club going under would be a disaster for the ten-team competition.
Premiership cash boost on the way?
Negotiations over a new broadcast deal for Premiership Rugby are ongoing, with insiders claiming that TNT Sports – the current rights-holder – is set to renew at an increased rate. Sources suggest the league’s improving commercial prospects make it logical for Newcastle’s rivals and CVC to step in and keep them afloat.
Falcons owner Semore Kurdi put the club up for sale last November, but so far, no buyers have emerged.
Jackson and Grayson signings in the works
Meanwhile, Falcons are reportedly interested in bringing in Paddy Jackson, who has been playing in Lyon since London Irish’s collapse. The Irish fly-half is still under contract until 2026, but Newcastle are keeping tabs on his situation.
One confirmed signing for next season is Ethan Grayson, who is set to return to the club on a one-year deal.
