Owen Farrell LEFT OUT of England’s Autumn Internationals Squad

According to The Telegraph, the 34-year-old fly-half is not expected to be named in Steve Borthwick’s squad for next month’s Tests against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Argentina. England’s head coach is set to name a preliminary training squad this Sunday ahead of a short camp, before finalising his full selection on October 26.

Farrell, who returned to Saracens this season after a turbulent spell with Racing 92 in France, is once again eligible for England duty now that he’s back in the Prem. He’s started the new campaign in strong form, playing at inside centre alongside new fly-half Fergus Burke.

But despite being available, it’s understood Farrell remains focused on rediscovering his love for the game at club level after stepping away from international rugby following the 2023 World Cup.

“I’m still in the same place,” the former England captain said last month. “I want to make sure I’m loving what I’m doing here… I am determined to make the most of my time and see where it takes me.”

With George Ford, Fin Smith and Marcus Smith all pushing hard for the England No 10 shirt, Farrell would need to deliver consistently standout performances for Saracens before being considered for a recall.

Still, The Telegraph reports that Borthwick has not closed the door completely. Should Farrell show the form and desire that made him England’s record points-scorer, a comeback ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Australia — when he’d be 36 — remains a genuine possibility.
