Owen Farrell goes into business with Manchester United star Mason Mount

The rugby and football stars are among the founders and investors behind Mejer Golf, which officially launched on July 26 with its first collection, titled Chapter 1.

Maejer is aiming to blend the traditions of golf with contemporary design and performance, with Farrell and Mount's shared love of the sport playing a major role in the project.

The pair launched the company alongside James Gullick, who previously spent a decade working with British fashion brand Represent, and former Nike employee Ben Harris.

Speaking to Big Swing Media about how the partnership came together, Gullick said: “Our mutual passion is golf, so it was a really natural fit.”

He also revealed that Farrell and Mount are already looking towards their futures beyond professional sport.

“Both Mason and Owen also understand that there’s a life outside of their respective sports, and that playing careers aren’t the longest,” he said.

“Both have been very switched on in terms of business and making investments while they’re still playing which is really important.”

Maejer was created after its founders identified what they believed was a gap in the golf clothing market.

Explaining the origins of the company on its official website, the brand said: “We didn’t really like that many golf brands on the market so we decided we would go and make our own.”

Rather than concentrating solely on performance, Maejer is also looking to tap into the wider culture and experience surrounding the sport.

Gullick explained that the brand wants to focus on “the moments before, the moments during, the moments after” a round of golf.

Farrell has been heavily involved in promoting the new venture and recently starred in his own Owen Farrell for Maejer Golf campaign.
