For every great mascot, there's an ill-conceived abomination. Here are 5 of the worst we could think of:
1. Pinging - Sunwolves
Pinging clearly lives up to his name. The eye balls give the perception he could be on something, and he's just generally terrifying to look at. Maybe the kids in Japan will love him? Maybe they'll struggle to sleep at night if they ever catch a glimpse of him..
2. Tah Man - Waratahs
This may very well be the most unknown mascot of them all, yet Tah Man is worthy of far more air time.
3. Ruckley - England
Ruckley was unveiled as the RFU's new ambassador at Twickenham by British Lions hero Alex Corbisiero and England forwards coach Graham Rowntree in 2013.
4. Mighty Max - Wigan Warriors
Rugby League team Wigan Warriors have 'professional warrior' Mighty Max as their mascot. All well and good, but why does he appear to be wearing a helmet with several bananas protruding out of the top?
5. Captain Hurricane - Hurricanes
Captain Hurricane ladies and gentlemen, your side line hero. You’ll be excused for thinking you’ve seen him in a 1970s porn film, just look at that seedy moustache. If that doesn’t scream french adult film, I don’t know what does.
