Northampton Saints admit Courtney Lawes future 'very uncertain'

Northampton Rugby Club's flanker, Courtney Lawes, is currently in negotiations regarding his future after the Rugby World Cup.
Despite being contracted to Saints until 2024, the 33-year-old has a break clause in his deal, which might lead to his departure this summer.
Northampton's CEO, Mark Darbon, expressed his desire to retain the talented player, acknowledging the ongoing talks as a live situation that would be resolved soon.
Lawes, who has had a challenging year with injuries, is hoping for a more productive future and a positive outcome from the negotiations in the weeks ahead.
Darbon said: “In an ideal world we’d love to keep him."
“We have discussions which are a live situation at the moment but we’ll have clarity in the coming weeks.
“By his own admission he’s had a frustrating year with a bad run of injuries.”

Despite being England's second-highest try-scorer of all time, May appears to be declining in quality for the Cherry & Whites.
He has had a forgettable season, scoring only three tries in 16 games for Gloucester, equating to one try every 336 minutes.
His struggles are further highlighted by sharing the field with speedy and in-form players like Louis Rees-Zammit and Ollie Thorley.

#3. Charles Piutau (Bristol Bears) - Reportedly £1m per season
While his performances this season have been decent, they are not worth anywhere near seven figures. While many players on this list may not be performing as well, this individual does, or probably any other, does not merit a £1 million per season salary.

#2. Courtney Lawes (Northampton Saints) - Reportedly £450,000 per season
Despite being a stalwart at Northampton Saints, fans may not need to fret if the 33-year-old versatile forward departs at the end of the season.
Although his contract at Franklin’s Gardens extends until 2024, a clause in his current deal could permit him to leave early.
The England veteran has played in only four games and spent just 170 minutes on the field for Saints this season, all of which resulted in losses. As a result, he is presently consuming a sizable portion of their salary cap for not much return.

#1. George Ford (Sale Sharks) - Reportedly £450,000 per season
Although they paid high wages to secure the services of England's number 10, many Sale supporters would contend that he doesn't merit a spot in their starting XV following his recovery from injury.
To date, Ford has played in only three Premiership matches, all of which ended in defeat, with a paltry three points scored. When it comes to performance, Rob du Preez is arguably South Africa's top fly-half, which is noteworthy in and of itself.
However, this also suggests that they may be overcompensating for their "backup" playmaker.
