"New Threads" - The Newest Kits for the Rugby World Cup and 2023/24 Season

As we move ever closer to the 2023 Rugby World Cup and following season, the latest kits are being released by clubs and countries. Now is it the perfect time to run down the new jerseys, for the Rugby World Cup and across the domestic leagues.
Some of these kits have stuck to a tried and tested design proving 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it', whereas others have pushed the boundaries with some polarising designs.

We have to start off our run-down with the latest release from the All Blacks. The classic black-out kit has received an update, in the form of New Zealand's iconic ferns, which lay across the jersey in partially-visible dark grey. This new release has certainly split the public opinion ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, as many rugby fans prefer a classic look from the All Blacks.
However, there is no denying the bold direction the All Blacks are taking with this new design. This kit could well be remembered in decades to come, as Sam Whitelock looks to become the first rugby player to ever win three Rugby World Cups.
2. South Africa
The Springboks have partnered up with Nike for their 2023 Rugby World Cup kits, and its safe to say that they nailed it with the home kit. The 'Boks have their iconic gold and green colour scheme for the traditional jersey, with the gold Nike 'swoosh' sealing the deal. The away kit is less easy on the eyes, but is still an impressive jersey. A geometric design of turquoise, white and light green, the alternate kit is a statement from the Springboks, with historical and cultural connotations.
3. Scotland
Scotland have gone traditional with their 2023 Rugby World Cup kits, with bold one-colour designs for home and away. The home jersey is a cool dark blue with a tartan strip going up the sides to complete the historically inspired look. The away kit is a brighter white than recent Scottish jerseys, as they take a step away from the grey alternate strips. Its a striking number, with the blue trims and collar adding a subtle but affective touch.
4. England
England's 2023 Rugby World Cup jersey was recently leaked, and it looks like Steve Borthwick's side are favouring for a classic number. The 'skyline' of red cross have been ditched from the bottom of the jersey, in favour of a classy, yet rather unimaginative kit for the trip to France. The red side trim from previous Umbro jerseys have also been removed, making this a blank canvas for Borthwick's maiden voyage to the Rugby World Cup.
5. Harlequins
The famous quarters are looking better than ever, for Harlequins' 2023/24 home kit. The partnership with Castore has produced another classic look, as the iconic red, blue, brown and grey of Harlequins will add a splash of colour to their upcoming Premiership and European campaigns. A fan favourite, Quins rarely differ from traditional for their home kits, with the added green cuff boosting the look with a subtle new edge.
6. Ireland
The home kit is a classic look for Ireland, the bold striking green base colour is instantly recognisable as the boys from the Emerald Isle. The green and white striped arm cuffs and collar are a nice tough, adding a bit of variety to an otherwise tried and tested strip. Ireland fans will hope that this kit will be immortalised as the one forever associated with their first ever Rugby World Cup triumph.
The away kit may grow on fans with time. The white kit with green and black cuffs just doesn't have the same impact as the home jersey when presented side-by-side. The away strip looks like a football (soccer) jersey, with the textured 'invisible' pattern and bright green canterbury logo.
7. Leicester Tigers (Home)
Leicester Tigers have released their home kit, for the 2023/24 Premiership season. This jersey has the potential to divide the fanbase, with supporters calling it a 'marmite' kit - you either love it, or hate it. Harkening back to the light green Leicester Tigers jerseys of the late 90s, this kit comes brimming with nostalgia, that has been taken into the new generation.
The white and red middle stripes are another call back to the Premiership title dominance of yester-year, with the cool cut up shapes bridging the gap into the modern era. Also, the geometric tiger coming across the shoulder and chest, looks like a warrior's tattoo and defines this year's kit.

8. Fiji - 2023 Rugby World Cup Alternate Kit
Fiji dropped their alternate kit for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and rugby fans are all asking the same question, "can they wear this for all the matches?" The Flying Fijians have pulled out all the stops with their latest collaboration with Nike, bringing the cool Pacific Island culture onto a striking black and red design.
The red palm leaves jump out of the black-out background, in complete reverse of the All Blacks subtlety. An undoubtedly striking jersey, lets hope the Fijians get the opportunity to rock the kit at the upcoming Rugby World Cup. The light red shorts borderline clash with the jersey, but the kit is brought home by the black out socks, with red cuff and iconic white Nike swoosh.
9. England Women
The reigning Women's Six Nations Grand Slam champions have launched their kit for the 2023/24 season. It has not been confirmed if this kit will carry the side through to the 2025 Rugby World Cup on home soil, but one thing is for certain, and that this kit is a cool modern upgrade on a classic England look.
The red side panels have a nice faded, gradient design, with sweeping white lines intercepting the colour. The majority of the jersey is a fundamental classic, another blank canvas to work with as new Red Roses Head Coach John Mitchell gets to work with his side.
10. Chile
Umbro have had the honour of creating Chile's first ever Rugby World Cup kit, as Los Condores embark on their maiden voyage at the competition. Chile's home kit is the bold red jersey with the blue trims, in what is a striking statement made up of their iconic colours. Chile are set to rock this jersey against England, in their Pool D clash this coming Autumn.
Chile's alternate kit is a unique number, with cool flashes of red and blue stretching across the white base layer. Again utilising the iconic trio of Chilean colours, the red, white and blue are eye catching in this kit, which looks set to fly off the shelves following social media's reaction.
11. Wales
The Wales kit has been released, with a classic looking home kit and an interesting away strip. The home kit is simple enough, a straight-forward Wales jersey with their rich red and white colourscheme making an instantly reconiseable look.
The arm cuffs remain, but the white crew neck collar has now been replaced with a smart dress-shirt style collar. The away kit's black and yellow 'bumble-bee' style kit has polarized opinions. Better resembling a classic Newport County football kit than anything Wales have donned in recent years, it is a step out of the norm for what will be an interesting Rugby World Cup for Wales' new generation.
12. Bath Rugby
Bath have released their home kit for the 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership season, with a smart number set to take to Recreation Ground. Scotland talisman Finn Russell is set to don this new jersey, as he arrives from Parisian giants Racing 92, in what could be the move of the Summer. Bath have kept to their classic colours of blue, black and white, with a newly incorporated horizontal line design for a crisp finish.
13. Northampton Saints
Northampton Saints have dropped their home kit for the 2023/24 Premiership season, and like Bath, they've stuck to tried and tested traditions. The green, black and yellow looks very smart, with the texturized stripes bringing out a new fan favourite jersey for Saints supporters.
The yellow cuffs are a nice addition to the traditional look, with the jersey giving off a bit of a grass-roots vibe. The discreet yellow trim around the front of the jersey is another subtle addition that makes this a great kit for the upcoming season.
14. Italy
The Azzurri's 2023 Rugby World Cup kit is a thing of beauty, that heavily ties into the countries rich history. With a texturized pattern harkening back to the Roman Empire, the Italian jerseys have wreath crows embossed upon their striking base colours of blue and white. Italy were never going to differ away from their traditional 'Azzuri' colour scheme, which has been modernised in this kit fit for an Emperor!
15. Tonga
Tonga's home kit has a simple and effective red and white colour-scheme, with the geometric tribal patterns bringing an added sense of Island pride. The Polynesian style artwork that embosses the simplistic jersey makes it stand out from the crowd, with the Sea Eagles set to spread their wings for some diving tries in this kit.
