Manu Tuilagi has £750,000 per season offer on the table

The 29-year-old is one of five players to have departed, alongside Kyle Eastmond, Telusa Veainu, Greg Batemen and Noel Reid, Tigers CEO Andrea Pinchen said in a video posted on the club website.

The players can effectively walk away as free agents due to breach of contract with moves overseas likely for a number of them.

'Most Japanese clubs have already filled up their playing roster for next season, but the top earners are getting a million euros a year,' revealed a source in Japan to the Mail Online.

'Manu wouldn't be far off that. He could get at least 850,000 euros.'

Meanwhile, wealthy Montpellier owner Mohed Altrad truled out a move for the centre: 'We wouldn't sign him for the current season — it is closed — but maybe the season after. Why not? I'm not saying "Yes" but I'm not saying "No".

'It depends on his commitments to the England team. Somebody contacted me about him last year. The calculations show that he would be away for half of the season so it doesn't work as an investment. It's a big move for him to stop playing for his country.'

Premiership sides Bristol Bears and Sale Sharks, who were also linked with a move for Tuilagi, have also distanced themselves from a move for the powerhouse.

After receiving a call-up during the 2020 Six Nations, the powerhouse is almost guaranteed to win his first cap when international rugby returns.
