Below, we have rounded up five rugby internationals that we are certain you will be surprised to learn are still playing.

#1. Ma'a Nonu (New Zealand)

Age: 39
Position: Centre
Honours: New Zealand, 103 caps

Fresh after his two recent appearances for Ngati Porou East Coast in New Zealand’s Heartland Championship, Nonu has announced his return to Major League Rugby by re-signing with the San Diego Legion.

#2. Shane Williams (Wales)

The Wales legend made a return to Welsh rugby in 2017, coming out of retirement to play for his beloved Amman United. The former Wales and British Lions star stunned spectators as he took the field for his home town side in the National League 3 West B match against Burry Port.

He then played for them in a final at the Millenium Stadium. He's since played a further handful of games for the club.

#3. Matt Giteau (Australia)

Age: 39
Position: Centre, Fly-half
Honours: Australia, 103 caps

He had all but decided to retire when his final season for Suntory Sungoliath ended suddenly in March once Japan’s 2020 Top League season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 outbreak. However, he has since been tempted back onto the rugby field by the LA Giltinis.

#4. Gavin Henson (Wales)

Age: 39
Position: Centre
Honours: Wales, 33 caps, Lions, 1 cap

The Wales legend could realise his dream of playing in a Rugby World Cup after unexpectedly switching to rugby league. The former union icon, released by the Dragons at the end of the 2018-19 season, has joined 13-a-side club West Wales Raiders.

#5. Ben Foden (England)

Age: 36
Position: Fullback
Honours: England, 36 caps

After a decade with the club Northampton confirmed that Foden would be leaving at the end of the 2017/18 season. In July 2018, Rugby United New York announced that they had signed Foden for the 2019 Major League Rugby Season. And that is where he remains until this day.
