Despite some very good performances in Round Five, there were still a number of Lions hopefuls who failed to impress under the watchful eye of Warren Gatland.

5. Gareth Davies (Wales)

Mail Online: "Didn’t have the best of starts with one poor kick, but was perhaps unlucky to have a first-half try ruled out. Replaced by the returning Tomos Williams early in the second period."
Wales Online: "Plenty of his kicks were contestable. On the debit side, he missed five tackles."

4. Mako Vunipola (England)

The Flanker: "Another day of struggles in the scrum for the veteran after a few such days in this year’s tournament, conceding three penalties in the first half. Hooked at half time for Ellis Genge.
Sky Sports: "The prop was substituted at half-time after giving away successive scrum penalties which saw Ireland gain the ascendancy."

3. Bundee Aki (Ireland)

Guardian: "Another red card on Ireland duty. A shame because until then he hadn’t missed a beat on first appearance of the tournament."
Independent: "Aki was solid for Ireland but his performance was overshadowed by his red card after he tackled Billy Vunipola."

2. Elliot Daly (England)

The Flanker: "Reverted to fullback after Max Malins’ late withdrawal and came with a sense of deja vu. Exposed in the air by Keenan in the leadup to the Conan try."
Sky Sports: "He must have cursed his luck when Max Malins was ruled out by injury and he had to switch to full-back late on. It was a shaky display at 15 from him too."

1. George Turner (Scotland)

Offside Line: "The opportunity to rehabilitate himself after his line-out disaster against Ireland went to waste. His first throw hit the mark but his second over the top must have been two yards squint. Enthusiastic and energetic though he is in the loose, the yips are a serious ailment for an international hooker."
