The British and Irish Lions stormed to a dominant win in Brisbane, running in eight tries in a powerful performance. Tommy Freeman crossed twice, while Andrew Porter and Duhan van der Merwe also dotted down to help the tourists recover from an early deficit and lead 21-12 at half-time.
The second half was all Lions, with skipper Maro Itoje, player of the match Jac Morgan, Huw Jones and Garry Ringrose adding to the tally in a ruthless display. The Lions’ mix of physicality and flair proved too much as they cruised to an emphatic win.

1.Andrew Porter-5
Porter held his own decently in the scrum but failed to make an impact as a whole. Showed good power for his try and helped make a slight difference with the Lions’ power game but overall was lacklustre.
2.Ronan Kelleher-5
The Lions on a whole were lacklustre with their discipline especially with handling errors and Kelleher just wasn’t clicking with the Lions’ attacking pace which only added to the penalty count. Provided decent throw-ins to the lineout, which aided the Lions’ attack.
3.Will Stuart-4.5
Stuart looked massively off the pace for the majority of his time on the field. Three penalties conceded and numerous mistakes at scrum time and also with ball in hand, Stuart failed to impress on any level.
4.Maro Itoje-8.5
Maro Itoje showed exactly why he was made captain for this tour with a fantastic all-around performance. The skipper was absolutely everywhere in attack and defence and led from the front, setting the tempo early on both sides of the ball. He was duly rewarded for his efforts with a powerful try.
5.Ollie Chessum-6.5
Chessum adds his name to the number of great showings from the Lions’ second rows so far. His work around the lineout was really solid and in attack with ball in hand his play was clever and added some great energy into the Lions’ pack.
6.Tom Curry-6
Curry was, to put it simply, relatively decent. He struggled to click in attack with errors creeping in to the Englishman’s performance. In defence he was again solid he just never really had the chance to grab the headlines or impact the game in any major way.
7. Jac Morgan-7
Morgan placed his foot right into the argument for a test start with a really strong showing in the 7 jersey. He was his usual industrious self with the ball in hand, grabbing a try and adding his weight to shove Porter over in the first half. In defence he was a menace in and around the breakdown which was a huge positive for the Lions
8. Jack Conan-7
Conan was a wrecking ball in the first half, his early carries aiding the Lions’ getting them into the game intensity-wise. His experience added to the Lions hugely and he showed some great handling skills to set up van der Merwe’s try.
9. Jamison Gibson-Park-7
Gibson-Park showed exactly why people are touting him for a test start, his game management was really clever, taking charge of the game in their defensive 22. In attack, he gave the Lions quick and clean ball speed as well as some clever snipes, which set up Itoje’s try.
10. Finn Russell-7.5
The JGP and Russell partnership caught the attention of many pre-match, and you can’t blame them. Russell was much less of his maverick self and much more comfortable sitting back and playing the ball when possible, more often than not as a second receiver option. Overall, a really solid showing for the Scotsman.
11. Duhan van der Merwe-5.5
Van der Merwe was very suspect especially in defence with some key moments when he looked well off the pace. In attack he just looked very one dimensional and looked nowhere near his usual standard we’re used to.
12. Bundee Aki-6.5
Aki had a poor first half where he was being made to play almost as a playmaking 12 rather than having the freedom to carry. In the second half he looked far better, breaking over the gainline numerous times and really shwoing why he’s a test favourite.
13. Huw Jones-6
Jones was quietly solid in attack and overall decent in defence. On occasions he was out of sync in attack and tried to force some attacks which weren’t on.
14. Tommy Freeman-8
Freeman was excellent on the wing and had some really good moments popping up in midfield. Two tries both finished really well and overall a great performance from the Englisman. He will surely be in the discussion for a test start.
15.Elliot Daly-7
Daly raised eyebrows when he was included in the first place but after his two games he showed exactly why he was included. His passing was on point, and defensively, he was reliable as always. He looked in some discomfort going off injured so hopefully for the Lions its nothing major.
