Lawrence Dallaglio's leaves Neil Back out of his all-time England XV

Widely rated as one of the world’s best-ever back row forwards, he was a key member of England’s World Cup-winning squad in Australia in 2003 and the only player to play in every minute of the memorable campaign.

Dallaglio also featured on three British and Irish Lions tours, picking up three caps along the way, and was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2016.

At domestic level, the 85-cap international was a one-club man with Wasps, picking up five Aviva Premiership titles along the way, as well as three Anglo-Welsh Cups and two European Rugby Champions Cups in his 18-year career.

14 JASON ROBINSON: "There are occasions when you don’t have to justify your opinion. As for Jason’s best position being the wing, think back to his skinning of Chris Latham for the Lions in 2001 and his ability in a tight channel."

13 JERRY GUSCOTT: "Jerry had a way of gliding into space that we haven’t seen in England since he stopped playing. Beautifully balanced runner with so much natural talent."

12 WILL GREENWOOD: "The thinking man’s rugby player. Instinctively took the pressure off his own fly-half, a brilliant creator who was so clever, he would often end up finishing a move he had started."

11 BEN COHEN: "I didn’t really play with Rory Underwood and I choose Ben because of his work-rate and extraordinary try-scoring. If Jonny had passed to his right, the World Cup try would have been his."

10 JONNY WILKINSON: "Everyone will have their different memories. I recall the performance against the Springboks at Bloemfontein in 2000 and the Grand Slam match against Ireland in 2003."

9 MATT DAWSON: "A difficult one, very difficult really. I liked Kyran Bracken as a player but too often he was let down by a fragile body. Matt Dawson was incredibly competitive."

1 JASON LEONARD: "Nailed on for any amount of reasons. Loose head was his position but he could play on the other side pretty well."

2 BRIAN MOORE: "People talk about the way I get under the skin of the opposition. They should have seen Brian Moore who was also a fantastic competitor and almost always found a way of getting the job done."

3 PHIL VICKERY: "Phil is a good scrummager and at his rampaging best, he was outstanding around the pitch."

4 MARTIN JOHNSON (captain): "The thing about Johnno, he was first and foremost a great player. The captaincy part came after that."

5 WADE DOOLEY: "I love Simon Shaw as a player but you couldn’t pick him with Johnno. For a middle of the line jumper, I’d go for Wade Dooley."

6 RICHARD HILL: "Another tough one because Mike Teague was a hell of a player and I’m reluctant to leave him out, but Richard Hill was such a brilliant all-round forward."

8 DEAN RICHARDS: "What did Deano have that I didn’t have? A great right hook – something I can testify to. Seriously, he had the knack of making the game revolve around him. Brilliant."

7 PETER WINTERBOTTOM: "Peter Winterbottom or Neil Back? Perhaps I’m influenced by hero-worshipping Winterbottom in my younger days but I believe he had a fraction more than Back."
