Hearn, best known for his work in boxing, has been expanding his reach into other sports and was recently spotted at Wales’ Six Nations clash with Italy. Reports suggest he’s targeting top rugby names, including Louis Rees-Zammit, as he builds his client roster.
Pollock confirmed his move during a post-match chat with TNT Sports, where he was asked by pundit Danny Care about his try celebration.
“Final one, we saw the little boxing jab – was that planned?” Care asked.
Pollock admitted it was all part of the plan, saying:
“Yeah, it was pre-planned. Obviously, massively happy to sign with Eddie and Matchmaking, and…”
That’s when things took a turn.
Presenter Ugo Monye quickly jumped in to correct him:
“They’re called Matchroom, not Matchmaking!”
Pollock saw the funny side immediately, replying with a grin:
“Yeah, Matchroom! I got that wrong, that’s all good!”
Fellow guest McParland couldn’t resist piling in, laughing:
“He doesn’t even know!”
The moment left Monye in stitches before Pollock regained composure and finished his point.
“Massively happy to sign with them. Eddie’s got so much knowledge in sport, and to bring that into rugby is going to be massive for the sport and also myself. So I’m really happy with that,” he added.
A big move for Pollock – even if he’s still learning the company name.
