Henry Pollock faces criticism for 'petulant behaviour' after Champions Cup final defeat

They’ve gone from teenage sweethearts to one of England rugby’s power couples.
Henry Pollock’s night went from bad to worse in Cardiff as Bordeaux-Begles shattered Northampton Saints’ Champions Cup hopes with a 28-20 win – and the flanker’s post-match antics didn’t help his cause either.

Saints had dared to dream after stunning Leinster in the semis, and with Alex Coles crashing over twice in the first half, it looked like another upset could be on the cards. At the break, it was all square at 20-20.
But Bordeaux had other plans. Their flashy backs took a back seat, and instead, it was the muscle up front – including six off the bench – who slowly squeezed the life out of Northampton in a brutal second half.

At full-time, Pollock, the youngest member of the upcoming British & Irish Lions tour, found himself in the middle of a scuffle with a group of Bordeaux-Begles players.
Images have emerged from the match that shows back row Tevita Tatafu, a Bordeaux non-23 squad member shoving Pollock with a hand to the neck. Pollock was visibly upset with the action, which took place shortly following the final whistle.
However, more criticism was aimed at Pollock for the incident.
One viewer slammed him on social media: “He looked like a petulant child throwing his toys out. Not what Farrell will want to see ahead of Lions selection.”
Another didn’t hold back: “Made an absolute tit of himself after the final whistle. Hopefully he learns a bit of humility on tour.”
And one brutal assessment read: “Pipe down Henry Pollock. Did f*** all in that game then kicks off at the end. Stay humble.”
With the dust settling and the Lions tour looming, Pollock’s got some serious rebuilding to do – both in form and in reputation.
Northampton Saints Director of Rugby Phil Dowson addressed the issue:
“There’s a fracas at the end. There’s foul play involved. I’ve been assured that the touch judge has seen it and will deal with it appropriately. Henry Pollock was particularly upset by it because I think it was uncalled for and out of order, so he reacted. The officials have told me that they will deal with it.”
